- A journey is a movement in space, whether voluntary or forced, made to a more or less distant point in a personal goal (eg tourism) or professional (business) or other (deportation, war, political or environmental refugees), travel motivated by sports or socio-cultural or major events.
While the number of inaccessible areas unmapped and unknown decreased, the journey has grown considerably and democratized, during the twentieth century with the advent of modern transportation increasingly fast and comfortable, the railway first, then the automobile and the airplane.
